Preseason NFL Week 2 Odds and Game Picks

NFL Week 2 Preseason Thursday, August 16, 2018

Philadelphia Eagles at New England Patriots, Gillette Stadium – 7:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Patriots -3, 43.5

The Philadelphia Eagles were thrashed 31-14 in their preseason home opener last week as 3 point favorites against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The New England Patriots outscored the Redskins 23-0 in the second half to pull out the come-from-behind 26-17 win and cover as 2.5 point favorites. With that the case, we should look to lay the field goal with the home team on the Week 2 preseason betting lines in this Super Bowl LII rematch. Right…wrong! Click for more...

Pittsburgh Steelers at Green Bay Packers, Lambeau Field – 8 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Packers -2.5, 42

Both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers romped their respective ways to wins the opening week of the preseason granting their backers ticket cashes against the NFL odds. Mike Tomlin’s crew took the game over from the outset, while it took a big fourth quarter to get Packer backers back to the ticket window. Though each of these teams is amongst the favorites to win Super Bowl LIII, don’t expect them to compete against one another as such in this exhibition tilt. Click for more...

New York Jets at Washington Redskins, FedEx Field – 8 p.m. ET ( ESPN )

Opening Line: Redskins -3, 40

One can only wonder if NFL Network execs got in the ears of both the New York Jets and Washington Redskins Vince McMahon style to up the ante for when they meet on the gridiron for ESPN’s Thursday night telecast. Both teams got into a pretty decent brawl in their joint practice session earlier in the week. It was supposedly extremely heated and serious. It’ll be interesting to see if the issues brought forth from the brawl are carried over onto the playing field. Click for more...

NFL Week 2 Preseason Friday, August 17, 2018

Kansas City Chiefs at Atlanta Falcons, Mercedes-Benz Stadium – 7 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Falcons -3, 41

Both the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons will be in search of their first wins against the preseason NFL betting odds when they collide in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Week 2 action. The Chiefs didn’t march many of their starters onto the gridiron to battle the Texans, nor did the Falcons who simply went through the motions against the Jets. That could all change in this matchup, but don’t expect either teams starters to get long looks with the rash of injuries that occurred last week. Click for more...

New York Giants at Detroit Lions, Ford Field – 7 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Lions -3, 41

Both Pat Shurmur and Matt Patricia both failed to come out victorious in their respective season debuts for the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. Both teams overall bodies of work came with warts. The Giants defense allowed the Cleveland Browns, mainly Baker Mayfield, to gouge them for a whopping 333 passing yards. As for the Lions defense, it allowed the Oakland Raiders to run the ball for nearly 150 yards last week. Both units will be under the microscope when the teams collide in Week 2 preseason betting. Buffalo Bills at Cleveland Browns, FirstEnergy Stadium – 7:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Browns -3.5, 38.5

The Cleveland Browns were one of the more public plays of the preseason last week when they went out and dominated the New York Giants en route to the 20-10 win and cover against the preseason NFL betting odds. What will Hue Jackson’s squad have in store for Week 2 when they make their home debut on the NFL Network against a Buffalo Bills squad searching for its first win after dropping a shootout at home to the Carolina Panthers? Miami Dolphins at Carolina Panthers, Bank of America Stadium – 7:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Panthers -4, 43

Lost in the mix of the Kelvin Benjamin/Cam Newton pregame smack talking fiasco was a solid comeback by Ron Rivera’s squad that led the Carolina Panthers to their first win against the NFL preseason betting lines. The Miami Dolphins also proved to be a viable opponent falling in the closing seconds to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both coaches gave their starters ample reps, so expect both squads to give them even more time in this Week 2 clash. Click for more...

Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints, Mercedes-Benz Superdome – 8 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Saints -3, 42

The New Orleans Saints staged a huge fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars on the NFL preseason betting lines last week, and will now look to remain undefeated back home in the Superdome where they’ll welcome in the Arizona Cardinals. Steve Wilks saw his squad also come back and defeat the Los Angeles Chargers to secure his first-ever win as an NFL head coach. Something will have to give in this Week 2 tilt. Click for more...

NFL Week 2 Preseason Saturday, August 18, 2018

Jacksonville Jaguars at Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium – 1 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Vikings -4.5, 40

Mike Zimmer’s prowess against the NFL preseason betting odds is becoming a thing of legend! After his club secured the 42-28 outright road win and cover against the Denver Broncos, he moved to 14-4 SU and 13-5 against the spread as a head coach in the exhibition season. His club returns home for a Week 2 preseason tilt against a Jacksonville Jaguars team it could cross paths with should both squads live up to their lofty expectations over the course of the regular season. Oakland Raiders at Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – 4 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Rams -3, 42.5

Would you look at that. Jon Gruden returns to Oakland and the Raiders once again find themselves atop the AFC West standings. All kidding aside, it was nice to see Chucky ball back in action with the Raiders actually looking to their ground attack instead of winging it on a prayer. The Los Angeles Rams fell victim to a Ravens team that already had one game under its belt. The end result was telling after Sean McVay’s troops were blown off the gridiron by a 33-7 final count, and were never in a position to cover the point spread. Click for more...

Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys, ATT Stadium – 7 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Cowboys -3, 41

The Cincinnati Bengals showed some resolve in their preseason opener against Chicago. Marvin Lewis’ squad led for most of the game before losing the lead in the fourth only to strike in the final minutes to pull out the 30-27 win over the Bears. The same can’t be said for Jason Garrett’s troops who dominated into the third quarter, but then allowed 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to drop a 24-21 decision to the Niners. Be that as it may, both clubs enter this NFL Week 2 preseason betting tilt a combined 2-0 against the spread; and that my friends are all that matters for our purposes. Click for more...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Tennessee Titans, Nissan Stadium – 8 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Titans -3, 41

Mike Vrabel’s squad hardly looked the part of a team that can compete in what’s expected to be the highly competitive AFC South this upcoming season in last week’s beatdown at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. On the flipside, Dirk Koetter tallied a rare preseason win when his Tampa Bay Buccaneers stole one from the Miami Dolphins in the final seconds to secure the exciting 26-24 outright win as short underdogs. Tennessee will look to put its best foot forward back at home in Week 2 NFL preseason betting. Click for more...

San Francisco 49ers at Houston Texans, NRG Stadium – 8 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Texans -2.5, 41

The Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers will have participated in two days of practices against one another before suiting up for this matchup on Saturday night. That means these teams will have a good idea of what the other is all about which makes for a likely competitive game all the way through. Jimmy Garoppolo and Deshaun Watson are likely to get more reps in this Week 2 NFL preseason betting battle, but the scoring will likely be limited after they depart. Click for more...

Chicago Bears at Denver Broncos, Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium – 9:05 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Broncos -3, 41

Will the third time be the charm for Matt Nagy as he looks to snag his first win as the Chicago Bears head coach in Denver against a Broncos team that got thoroughly humiliated at home last week by another NFC North opponent. The opportunity to win its first two games was there for Chicago to take advantage of, but they just couldn’t see it all the way through. Early betting for this Week 2 tilt finds the betting market fading them again with better than 60 percent of the action riding the home team. Click for more...

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Chargers, StubHub Center – 10 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Chargers -3, 41.5

A pair of teams looking to beat the NFL preseason betting lines will lock horns in the finale of the NFL Network’s Saturday slate of games when the Seattle Seahawks hit the road for Tinseltown where the Los Angeles Chargers will await. Neither club looked great once the backups came in last week, so a more determined effort is expected from both clubs as Pete Carroll and Anthony Lynn coach their players up for a better showing. NFL Week 2 Preseason Monday, August 20, 2018

Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium – 8 p.m. ET ( ESPN )

Opening Line: Colts -1.5, 41.5

Jim Harbaugh continues to get the job done for NFL bettors that blindly back his Baltimore Ravens in the preseason. His club now has two wins in the exhibition season and enters this Week 2 NFL odds tilt against the Indianapolis Colts off a decisive beatdown of the Los Angeles Rams in their home opener. The Ravens head coach will be out to improve his already impressive 30-12 SU and 27-14-1 preseason marks on the true road in the first Monday Night Football telecast of the season. Click for more...
