NFL Preseason Week Three Betting Predictions

NFL Preseason Week 3 Thursday, August 23, 2018

Philadelphia Eagles at Cleveland Browns, FirstEnergy Stadium – 8 p.m. ET ( FOX )

Opening Line: Browns -2, 42.5

Before NFL preseason betting action picked up, Doug Pederson was considered a head coach to back with him 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS his first two seasons in the City of Brotherly Love. But with the Philadelphia Eagles entering 2018 as the defending Super Bowl champs, it’s very noticeable that he’s not putting much stock into the results with the team failing to log a win or cover through their first two games. Will that trend hold up in Week 3 live on FOX against a Cleveland Browns squad looking to put its best foot forward in its dress rehearsal? Click for more...

NFL Preseason Week 3 Friday, August 24, 2018

New York Giants at New York Jets, MetLife Stadium – 7:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Jets -1, 42

The annual preseason battle for Big Apple bragging rights is set to go down in Week 3 NFL preseason betting when Pat Shurmur’s New York Giants locks horns with Todd Bowles’ New York Jets. The G-Men have held the upper hand in the recent rivalry taking last year’s meeting by a 32-31 final count to move to 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in the last four meetings. Early betting finds the public backing that trend with nearly 73 percent of the action riding the team donning blue. Click for more...

Denver Broncos at Washington Redskins, FedEx Field – 7:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Redskins -3, 43.5

Vance Joseph isn’t doing himself any favors early on in preseason NFL betting. John Elway stuck with his man to give him another crack at making his decision to hold onto him after a disastrous 5-11 campaign look to be the right one. So far not so good after the team fell to a pair of NFC North reps the last two weeks. As for the Washington Redskins, the team didn’t suffer a letdown against the Jets after losing rookie running back Derrius Guice for the season. Instead, they buckled down and got Jay Gruden back in the win column at the game’s death. Click for more...

New England Patriots at Carolina Panthers, Bank of America Stadium – 7:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Panthers -2, 46.5

One of only five undefeated NFC teams, the Carolina Panthers will look to keep chugging along in Week 3 NFL preseason betting on Friday night when they welcome the also undefeated New England Patriots into Bank of America Stadium for a Week 3 tilt against the NFL odds. These franchises have seen a lot of one another in the exhibition season, and it’s been all Pats who’ve won eight of the nine all-time meetings and gone 7-1-1 against the spread in those matchups. Click for more...

Seattle Seahawks at Minnesota Vikings, U.S. Bank Stadium – 8 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Vikings -3.5, 41.5

Many are down on the Seattle Seahawks entering the 2018 NFL betting season, and if the first two weeks of exhibition play are an indicator, the betting markets just might be right! Pete Carroll’s troops will invade the Twin Cities on Friday night looking to snag their first win of the preseason against an ornery bunch of Minnesota Vikings who looked listless in an ugly 14-10 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mike Zimmer likes to win in the preseason, so a crisper and more determined effort is to be expected in Week 3. Click for more...

Detroit Lions at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Raymond James Stadium – 8 p.m. ET ( CBS )

Opening Line: Buccaneers -3, 45

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter Week 3 of the preseason undefeated against the NFL betting lines after going on the road and taking it to the Dolphins and Titans. After going 1-3 in last year’s exhibitions, it’s highly evident Dirk Koetter is laying the ground work for a season he hopes saves his job. That remains to be seen. On the flipside, Matt Patricia hasn’t done much of anything to impress the Motor City after the team was rolled up and smoked in its two matchups. Do yourself a solid and don’t jump to any conclusions; this is still the preseason! Click for more...

Green Bay Packers at Oakland Raiders, Oakland Coliseum – 10:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Raiders -3, 45

Fans of the NFL, players and coaches have been complaining about the duration of the preseason for years. Shorten it up they say. The games are meaningless they say. That is unless you’re wagering on the NFL odds. Well, the Green Bay Packers just might set some precedent on Friday night when they rest the entire starting offense and hand things over to the guys in position battles trying to fill the last roster spots. That should be alright with the Oakland Raiders who dropped a tough one to the Rams last week. Remember, Chucky likes to win in the preseason. Click for more...

NFL Preseason Week 3 Saturday, August 25, 2018

Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears, Soldier Field – 1 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Bears -1.5, 45

The betting public is expecting some points to hit the scoreboard Saturday afternoon when the Chicago Bears make their preseason betting home debut against the Kansas City Chiefs. Maybe it has to do with Andy Reid’s woeful preseason track record, or the fact that this will be Matt Nagy’s debut in Soldier Field as the team’s new head coach. Either way, Chicago has been bumped up to a 2 point favorite with the move supported by 60 percent of the wagers taken. The total is up to 48 from the 45 opener. Click for more...

Houston Texans at Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum – 4 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Rams -2.5, 43.5

One of the better dress rehearsals of the Week 3 NFL preseason betting slate is set to go down Saturday afternoon in Tinseltown where Sean McVay’s Los Angeles Rams will look to protect their house against Bill O’Brien’s Houston Texans. Both of these clubs are expected to win their divisions and have a say in how their respective conferences shake out. With that, the first half is sure to deliver while the starting units get their most burn of the exhibition season. Click for more...

Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers, Heinz Field – 4 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Steelers -4, 45.5

The Mike Vrabel era hasn’t gotten out to the greatest of starts. Through two games, the Tennessee Titans stand 0-2 both straight up and against the closing NFL betting lines. To add insult to injury, they’ve been outscored 61-31. With the regular season only a few short weeks away, a solid showing against a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers would go a long way in allowing the franchise to feel better about itself. That said, it won’t be easy with Mike Tomlin expected to give his starting units their most burn of the preseason. Click for more...

San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium – 4:30 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Colts -1, 43.5

The Indianapolis Colts committed 19 penalties for a total of 129 yards and committed three turnovers, yet still found themselves with a chance to win the game late against the Baltimore Ravens on the season’s first installment of Monday Night Football. You got to love the preseason! The San Francisco 49ers haven’t showed much of a hand the first two weeks of the NFL betting preseason, but Jimmy G and the gang figure to get a half in against the Colts in Saturday’s matinee. Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium – 7 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Dolphins PK, 41.5

The Baltimore Ravens Click for more to shine under the watch of John Harbaugh who coached the team to the 20-19 win over the Colts last week to extend the team’s win streak to 11 in the preseason. With arguably the best QB rotation in the league, this team is an exhibition season monster! Unfortunately for the Miami Dolphins, they haven’t been in going 0-2 SU and against the NFL odds through the first two weeks. Still, Adam Gase’s squad only lost those games by an average of 4.5 points per game. Maybe they’re due? Click for more...

Atlanta Falcons at Jacksonville Jaguars, TIAA Bank Field – 7 p.m. ET

Opening Line: Jaguars -3, 41.5

A pair of teams that could possibly represent their respective conferences in Super Bowl LIII will collide in a Week 3 dress rehearsal on Saturday night when Dan Quinn’s Atlanta Falcons lock horns with Doug Marrone’s Jacksonville Jaguars. Neither head coach has cared much about the preseason in the past, but this matchup figures to be one of the better ones on the Week 3 NFL preseason betting slate with each expected to be major players in the regular season. New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Chargers, StubHub Center – 8 p.m. ET ( CBS )

Opening Line: Chargers -2.5, 44.5

Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys, ATT Stadium – 8 p.m. ET ( NBC )

Opening Line: Cowboys -3, 43.5

The Arizona Cardinals are the forgotten team in the NFC West with the Rams, 49ers and Seahawks expected to be the teams to beat. That hasn’t stopped new head coach Steve Wilks from installing a winning mentality throughout the preseason with his club one of only seven teams to be undefeated at this point of the exhibition season. They’ll shoot for a third straight win against the NFL odds on Sunday Night Football when they meet up with the Dallas Cowboys for a nationally televised affair. Click for more...
